Introduction to nutritional balancing – Principles, benefits, techniques

INTRODUCTION:

The first thing that comes to mind is nutritional balance. Nutritional balancing is a holistic approach to taking the right portion of macronutrients, micronutrients, etc in our daily diet routine according to our body needs. Tracking this nutritional routine employing calculating every meal’s calories and nutrients is nutritional balancing. In this modern-paced era, it is really difficult to maintain a healthy and optimal lifestyle.

This article emphasizes the concept of nutritional balancing and the importance of maintaining proper nutritional equilibrium.

Section 1: Nutritional imbalance:

As discussed earlier, it is really difficult to maintain a healthy diet in this modern era. Today’s diet lacks required nutrients and is of highly contained calories, majorly consumed processed foods, and unhealthy fats which results in severe conditions (diseases) like obesity, heart problems, etc. This nutritional imbalance results in the consumption of non-required and unhealthy fats etc and also results in deficiency of crucial micro and macro nutrients like vitamins, proteins, and minerals. This results in a highly negative response to our body and affects our body system badly. This effect includes digestive, heart problems, fatigue, and many more.

Section 2: Principles:

Balancing key nutrients:

The first and the utmost principle of nutritional balancing is the balancing of key nutrients. The consumption of micro and macronutrients in the correct amount. Our body(healthy lean) is approximately composed of:

water62%
protein16%
fat16%
minerals6%
carbohydratesLess than 1%
Vitamins, phosphorus, zinc, calcium, and many moreVery small quantity

Women aged 18-50 should consume daily calories of around 1800-2000 men of similar age should be 2200-2400 women ages from 51- older should consume calories of around 1600 and men of similar age should 2000 calories.

So it is recommended that the generally healthy man should uptake this amount of daily nutrients:

macronutrientsDaily intake %
carbohydrates45-65
fats20-35
proteins10-35

The body also needs a good amount of micronutrients like minerals, calcium, and vitamins.

Holistic approach:

Another important principle is the holistic health approach. If you take your body well, the interconnection of the body system with the role of nutrition results in supporting it. This views our whole body as a highly complex system that requires adequate nutrients for proper functioning.

Elimination & detoxification:

Toxins from food and the environment accumulate in our bodies with time. With the help of nutritional balancing incorporates very well which results in proper body function and balance.

Section 3: Process:

Assessment and testing:

Before starting nutritional balancing, it is very important to assess and test your complete body. Because everybody is different, and we may not know which deficiency you may or may not have. As it completely depends on an individual’s diet, lifestyle, and health. It helps to square up the body.

Plan:

The second step is the plan. It depends on your body’s assessment. It is highly recommended to create a plan that outlines diet changes, supplements(if required), and lifestyle modifications.

Adjustments and monitoring:

The third and very vital step is monitoring and adjustments. Nutritional balancing is a long and ongoing procedure. So if you neglect and do not monitor properly and also do not make adjustments results in negligible change in lifestyle, diet, etc which results in no nutritional balancing.

Section 4: Benefits:

Improve mental health:

Our human brain consists of a limbic system which includes the amygdala and hypothalamus and these nutritional balances have a strong connection to our brain and mainly this part of our brain which is the forebrain(limbic system is a part of it). Nutritional imbalances result in mood disorders and mental health problems. This nutritional balance helps in stress relief and improves mental health to a greater extent.

Hormone balance:

As described above, the human brain consists of the hypothalamus which controls most of our hormonal functions like the menstrual cycle. Nutritional balancing results in proper hormonal balance. That’s why nutrition or diet is very important for hormonal functions and the proper menstrual cycle.

Improve immunity:

Accurate nutrition balancing results in a strong defense system for our body. Which simply means robust wbc or T-lymphocytes of our immune system, help the body to fight against pathogens, bacteria etc effectively.

Increase energy:

A well-balanced diet helps individuals improve their focus, energy, and vitality. Which directly links to our brains.
